"The veil" Mische Technique on panel 36" x 24", 2024 Text in Turkish North Cyprus has been a source of much inspiration for me in my latest work. I feel like part of me is Cypriot - Like I lived there before. I have friends in Cyprus that have become very dear to me and among them the person who inspired this painting, I had a very deep connection and the feeling that I knew him and that this actually had happened to me before. When my older niece was born and I saw her eyes for the first time, I recognized her eyes, I knew her from before. I had a similar feeling with a friend from Spain and now with this new friend in Cyprus. I was not surprised to find out that we both have similar ways of thinking, being both of us artists interested in spiritual grow and both doing fasting, even though he was far more experienced than me in both subjects. He felt the same like we had met before. That is how the idea for this work began to take shape. It is the veil that doesn't let us see the invisible world around us or to remember the past lives. If past, present and future are happening right now then it would be a veil that doesn't allow us to connect with those past and future versions of ourselves. However, I believe we sometimes connect in dreams. For this painting I just let the visions come to me through inspiration without trying to make sense of them and allow the meaning of the figures in this painting to show in the future, the same as it has happened to me with some of my works.
